I've tried Image Button (which has known issues), Link Button, and just plain old vanilla Button. I know this happens after an update command happens on the database, but I want to write my own custom update. When clicking on either of these controls, my break point is never hit in the event method. The Row Updating event fires fine , but gv2_Row Updated does not fire? If it doesn't meet the requirement, I want a message box to fire with the error statement and have simply an 'ok' button on it. but when the page is postback on click of link button, they haven't been re-created, so there is nothing for the page to bind the click events to.You will need to create them again in the Pre Render event if it's a postback.

Once you do this, the controls will be available to the page to bind the events to, and your handler will get called.
